Tribute to Doris Brighton PDF Print E-mail

I am sorry to have to announce the very sad news that Doris Brighton passed away in hospital on February 3rd 2010. Our sincere sympathy goes out to her family and her very close friend Mildred with whom she was friends with for over 20 years.

Doris and Mildred joined Rascals together over 4 years ago and hardly missed a meeting up until the past year when Doris had been so poorly and was unable to come to Rascals but Mildred kept her updated with what was going on.

Her funeral was at Eastbourne Downs Crematorium on 15th February some of the committee attended and their was a large turn out for the service a donation was sent to St Wilfred’s Hospice along with our sincere condolences to the family at the loss of such a fun loving person. Doris will be missed.

Dennis joined Rascals some 4 years ago we had heard of Dennis from the group who regularly attended the Hydrotherapy pool but most of us had not seen or met him, as he felt he did not want to be the only man

Among so many women.

Dennis was very popular in the hydrotherapy pool where as the only male, he enjoyed splashing all the girls when they got into the water. He was involved raising money for a charity, in a swim-a-thon for sport aid which involved the group and organized one of his own in the Hydro Pool for Children in Need.

It was a great day when he braved himself to come to the group meeting the rest of us for the first time.

Rascals Social outings and our yearly Garden Party was another of Dennis and Maureen’s pleasures which they shared with others in the group.

Dennis and Maureen both became a special part of the Rascals Family with their great generosity in fund raising, and their kindness towards every one, and Dennis leaves us with some very happy memories.

He was a true gentleman and friend with a special sense of humor and the warmth that he showed to every one. He will leave a huge void in Rascals and will be greatly missed by all but never forgotten.

Maureen as an honoree member of Rascals, you will always be made very welcome to come to the meetings and social events when you feel the time is right.

POEM OF LIFE

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road,
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay...

Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know.
For some the journey's quicker,
For some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends,
We'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace,
Together with the lord.

With Love from all us your friends at Rascals. Our thoughts are especially with Maureen and her family at this sad time.

Our lose Dennis is the Angels gain. Goodnight, and God Bless you.
